Remember when Arnold Schwarzenegger looked like this and this? Aging is a real sonofabitch. Anyway, I was just talking to a friend of mine, and we were just reminiscing about how Arnie was THE man in the 80′s and 90′s. Just look at this list of consecutive films he was a part of: Conan the Barbarian (1982), Conan the Destroyer (1984), The Terminator (1984), Red Sonja (meh) (1985), Commando (1985), Raw Deal (1986), Predator (1987), The Running Man (1987), Red Heat (1988), Twins (1988), Total Recall (1990), Kindergarten Cop (1990), Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), Last Action Hero (1993), True Lies (1994).
(I’m going to stop right there, because we’re reeeeal close to Junior, Eraser, Jingle All the Way, and Batman and Robin territory.)
All unquestionable hits! Has anyone else had a run like this? Schwarzenegger then turned political until 2011, but now has been slowly getting back into the game that cemented himself into the stratosphere of celebrity. USA Today has the first official shot of the Austrian Oak’s new film, The Last Stand, directed by Kim Jee-woon (I Saw the Devil).
The film follows Schwarzenegger as a dishonoured L.A.P.D. cop who must attempt stop the flow of drugs into his newly adopted small town. Rodrigo Santoro, Zach Guilford, Harry Dean Stanton, Forrest Whitaker, Luis Guzmán, Genesis Rodriguez, and Johnny Knoxville round out the cast.
The Last Stand is set to release on January 18, 2013. See a grizzled (but still tough!) picture of Schwarzenegger below the break.
